Notes from Mrs. Merriam

Welcome back, Foxes! What a grand beginning for PAWS Up for 20 Years! We have a wonderful year of events planned for our Nuckols Farm PAWty, and we will begin with our PTA Back-to-School Night on Thursday, Sept. 14. We will be delivering a previously recorded general PTA meeting again this year, so parents, please head straight to your child’s classroom upon arrival at 6:55 pm. Read on for more details about Back to School night, our 20th Birthday PAWty/Family Picnic and more Farm fun!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Want a volunteer job that says THANK YOU every week to our teachers?  Teacher Workroom volunteers help classroom teachers by copying work for the upcoming week.

Volunteers sign up for a grade level/day and spend 1-2 hours a week (during a time of your choosing) making copies and occasionally laminating. You can also share your job with another volunteer and come in every other week. Contact Landon Klapprodt.

The Explore Lab is looking for grade-level coordinators for kindergarten, third and fifth grades. Coordinators communicate with the grade-level teacher coordinator and recruit volunteers for each lab. Contact Kelly Berger or Stephanie Weber. No science degree or experience is needed!

Cafeteria volunteers are needed to help school staff supervise students at lunch, pass out supplies and help younger children open food packages. Shifts are 11 am–12 pm and 11:50 am-12:50 pm. Schedule yourself on a minimal basis or sign up for weekly shifts. Sign up now (get instructions here), or contact Sue Boling.

Media Center (library) volunteers are needed to reshelve books, help students find books and assist with other duties to help our librarians. Shifts can be flexible based on your availability. Sign up now, or contact Amy Lawson.

The Community Service Club is open to 4th and 5th graders and will meet after school every other month to work on various community service projects. Applications will be coming home soon and are due by Sept. 18. If you'd like to help with a meeting or have an idea for a project, contact Deb Harper or Stephanie Weber.

Join our Gardens & Grounds Committee on Sunday, Oct. 1 from 2-4pm to work on various gardens and grounds clean-up projects on the Farm. Adult and youth volunteers are needed.  Contact Myra Robinson by Sept. 28.
