News from Mrs. Merriam

Dear Nuckols Farm Foxes,

What a sensational Science Fair! Our Science Fair PTA chairs, Mrs. Powell and Mrs. Bernier, did an amazing job organizing, setting up, delegating, and cleaning up this major event, and their diligence is greatly appreciated. Our fox scientists loved the opportunity to show and share their terrific projects. Thank you also to our Hospitality Chairs, Mrs. Kush and Mrs. Schaeffer, and their host of helpers for the heart healthy Valentine’s staff luncheon. It was delicious, and the staff really enjoyed the homemade Valentine decorations.

On a more serious note, I would like to assure you that our division and school take the safety and security of our children, staff, and families very seriously, and our staff and School Safety Committee meet regularly to discuss, share, and continue to tweak safety measures. Several different types of drills are conducted at time-variable opportunities, and our students have practiced what to do in the case of natural emergencies including tornados, earthquakes, fire and other emergencies. Teachers and staff members are trained on safety before our students walk in the door each school year, and while not every protocol is made public for obvious reasons, they are versed in protocol for many types of emergencies. As the building leader, I feel very informed and supported by our school system in the area of safety and am proud to say that our school has received an outstanding rating on annual safety audits. Even so, we strive every day to keep our beloved school as safe as possible.

As March approaches, please make plans for a half day dismissal on March 1. In the meantime, teachers are gearing up for Papa John’s Teacher Delivery Night on March 6. Get your order in today to have dinner delivered by your favorite Nuckols Farm teachers!!

Your lucky Principal,

WE ARE LOOKING FOR COACHES for this AWESOME program next year!! One or more coaches guide a grade-level, co-ed team of students. Through teamwork and exploration, they study a specific scientific program our world might face today then design and construct a model using LEGOs and motorized components. A Note from the PTA President

In the last few weeks we have had several events making us grateful for the strength and integrity of our community. First, on the retirement of our incredible principal, we have all taken time to be grateful for her 35 years of devoted service, high standards and motivational leadership. We want to protect and preserve her leadership and legacy at NFE in a variety of ways. A big thanks to Dana Hennessey for agreeing to spearhead the finalizing of these remembrances for the school, for Mrs. Merriam, and for the community. We look forward to having everyone join us at the Spring Family Picnic on May 1 for a school-wide retirement party, with music and a chance to celebrate Mrs. Merriam in true Nuckols Farm fashion.

Read on for more information about the principal search process, our PTA’s support of NFE’s safety initiatives, and other activities around the Farm.

Emily McKinney, PTA President

Great Job, Scientists!

Thank you to all students who participated in our annual Science Fair, and thank you to the families who were able to attend! We hope all who participated enjoyed creating the projects! It was a wonderful display of creativity, curiosity, and demonstration of a scientific process! Great job!

Thank You from the National PTA

Last fall following natural disasters in Florida and Texas, the NFE community raised $791.55 for the National PTA's Disaster Relief Fund. We recently received a note from National PTA Executive Director, Nathan Monell. "Your contribution supports students and education systems that are disrupted by natural disasters and man-made tragedies. How caring your community is! Thank you!"
