SUBJECT: News from the Farm - November 16, 2018

Notes from Mrs. Metzger

November is National Family Engagement Month. The past few weeks have been busy at The Farm engaging with families through the Fall Enrichment Days, Parent Conferences, Art Shows at West Creek Emergency Center and Our Lady of Hope, and the Veterans Day Assembly. In the coming weeks, we have the Turkey Trot on Saturday, November 17th; Team Foxtronauts will be participating in a Lego Robotics Competition on November 17; the Reflections Ceremony will take place on Monday, November 19; and Math Science Night will be held on Tuesday, November 27. We look forward to your engagement in these upcoming events!

This month we also held our first ever Fox Fest! Fox Fest is an event created to celebrate our school, recognize students for demonstrating kindness, recognize kindness in our community, and to connect our contributions to being Global Citizens. This was an incredible event and I am so proud of our students, staff, and the community.

With the upcoming Thanksgiving break our teachers and staff will be enjoying time with their own families. We hope that you will take the opportunity to do the same. In closing, I want to say how thankful I am to be able to serve this incredible school each day with such amazing staff, students, and families. Happy Thanksgiving!

Thankfully,

Crystal Metzger

Meet Our Volunteers of the Month

Congratulations to our October Volunteers of the Month, Shannan Barber, Kristina Weimer and Tom Scott. Shannan and Kristina served as co-chairs of our Fall Festival and worked hard to plan an amazing family event last month, despite the uncooperative weather. Tom serves as a coach of two Lego League teams at NFES and not only guides the teams through their learning of building and engineering concepts but encourages teamwork and other important skills as well. Thank you to these wonderful volunteers!

SCHOOL NEWS

The Nuckols Farm PTA is pleased to announce a new school learning garden! The new garden is designed to allow all grade levels to learn and grow both academically and as a school community. The NFES faculty is currently designing lessons and activities that will provide numerous learning opportunities and lots of fun. The new garden beds will be surrounded by engraved 4” x 8” pavers (see photo example). We hope you will help us launch this project by purchasing a paver or two for your favorite fox! Orders are due by December 16, 2018. Click here for more information or to place an order.

Support this Year's Giving Tree

We are excited to announce that we will be partnering with our sister school, Johnson Elementary, in sponsoring the Giving Tree. The Giving Tree allows for donors to provide gifts and clothing to qualified families during the holiday season. Beginning November 19, you are invited to take an ornament from our Giving Tree located in the main office. Information enclosed in the ornament will indicate whether the child is male or female and his or her age, shoe size, shirt size, pant size, and toy suggestions. Please spend no more than $50 and return the wrapped gifts in a large bag with the information attached to Nuckols Farm by December 7. Please feel free to contact Elyse Crockett, school counselor, with any questions at 364-0840. Thank you for your support of this program.

An Important Change!

Congratulations to Mrs. Luxton's and Ms. Gallagher's classes, who collected the most Box Tops in October! We saw a collection surge in October, so thank you to all who submitted. Keep clipping and be sure to check the progress of your class on the graph on the back of your November collection sheet. Gathering with family and friends this holiday season? Ask them to bring you any Box Tops they might have!
