Fox Families,

Kindergarten registration was a huge success yesterday! We registered 95 new foxes!

As we begin to approach the end of the school year, there will be many exciting activities taking place here on the Farm. Please mark your calendar for the following two dates in April.

Calling All Volunteers! We will host our Volunteer Appreciation Program to recognize all of our volunteers on Tuesday, April 23rd at 8:30 am. We are so grateful for all that our volunteers do to support our school, staff, and students and want to take this opportunity to say thank you. We look forward to you joining us! Our Fox Garden Celebration will take place on Thursday, April 25th. We invite you to join us for this exciting event. Hi families,


I hope you all enjoyed a relaxing spring break! We have a busy month ahead, so please check the PTA calendar for all the April event dates! I look forward to seeing you for our PTA meeting onApril 16 at 7:00 pm

 

Also, the National PTA has proposed a dues increase per member effective September 1, 2019. Please take a moment to complete this quick survey regarding the proposed increase.

Save the Date!

Our next spirit event will be held at Chipotle on Monday, May 6, 2019 from 4:00-8:00 pm. Check out the flyer for more details!

 

Our annual Faculty Kickball game will be held on April 30, 2019 on the blacktop of the big playground. Cheer on our NFES teachers and then enjoy Sweet Frog, snacks sold by the SCA, and fun with friends from 3-5 pm!

 

Paver Garden Dedication 

We can't wait for our garden dedication ceremony on Thursday, April 25 from 4:30-5:30 pm. It is going to be a fun celebration! If you plan on attending this special event, please RSVP by April 15. Additional information and the RSVP link can be found here. Hope to see you there!

NFES Volunteer Clean Up Day Cancelled!

Due to wet weather, tomorrow's Clean Up Day on the Farm has been cancelled. It may be rescheduled next month so stay tuned!

 

Cafeteria News

Congratulations to Jenny White who was drawn as the March Cafeteria Volunteer of the Month. She receives a handmade Fox material apron. Congratulations, Jenny!  

Cafeteria volunteers are needed to help students at lunch by passing out supplies and opening food packages. Shifts are 11:10 am–12:10 pm and 12:00 pm-1:00 pm on weekdays. Schedule yourself on a minimal basis or sign up for weekly shifts. Sign up now (get instructions here), or contact Sue Boling.

News from the Art Room

Artwork from many Foxes was on display at the recent HCPS A.R.T.S. Festival which took place at Varina High School. Congratulations to all of these students!

NFES Rubik's Cube Team Wins Competition!

Congratulations to our Rubik's Cube Team! They recently won the Regional Team Competition held at Holman Middle School. Heath W. and Caleb S. also won 1st and 2nd places in the solo competition. Pawsitively awesome!

  

FIFTH GRADE NEWS

 

Luau Registration is Open!


Registration for the 5th Grade Luau is open! Please use Membership Toolkit to register your 5th grader, pay, and indicate t-shirt size (included in the ticket price). The ticket price will increase on April 20 and registration will close on May 3.  


 

Door Prize Donations Needed!


5th Grade Parents, it is time to start preparing for the 5th Grade Luau. Our students always have a great time and that is in large part to you! We are asking for donations for door prizes. Any donations are appreciated but gift cards in small amounts (like $10) are always a big hit. There is a box in the main office for donations collection.Please turn in any donations by this Monday, April 15. Thanks so much for your support!


Fifth Graders Walk for Water for South Sudan

For their spring enrichment, our fifth graders participated in a walkathon to raise money for Water for South Sudan. After reading "A Long Walk to Water" and learning about the struggle to obtain clean drinking water in South Sudan, all money collected by the the NFES fifth graders was donated to Water for South Sudan. Over $3000 was raised for this worthy cause! Way to go!

The Sophie House 5k


Looking for a fun, outdoor event? The Sophie House will be having a 5k race on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 8:00 am at Deep Run High School. Check out their website for additional details or contact Candice McAuliffe with any questions.


 

RVA Cares 5k


Another fun event for a great cause! The RVA Cares 5k will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Gayton Elementary School. For more information and to register for the race, check out the race website.


SUPPORT THE FARM EVERY TIME YOU SHOP OR EAT!

 
Our year-long contest is in the final stretch! The LAST collection sheet of the school year will be coming home soon, combining April and May. Clip all you can through the end of May to help win your class a prize in June! Remember to check packages from products like Go-Gurt, Lysol, Cheerios and other GM cereals, Ziploc, Kleenex, Green Giant, Nature Valley, and Annie’s branded items before throwing them away. Every little Box Top counts!
