PTA NEWS

Hi families,

The last month of school is always a super busy time! If you have some time to help with recycling, shelve books in the library, or pass out utensils in the cafeteria, please sign up to volunteer on Membership Toolkit!

Early May will also be a time filled with appreciation.  May 1 is School Principal Day! Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6-10 (information coming from room parents soon) and School Nurses Day is on May 8.  Please take a minute to thank these very important people in our children’s lives! Our school is so very lucky to have them!

Looking forward to seeing you all at the Staff Kickball Game/Family Picnic on April 30

Volunteer of the Year Announced

“Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.” This quote perfectly sums up this year’s Volunteer of the Year, Stephanie Weber. No matter the need, she is always available to provide extra assistance â€“ and always with a smile. One NFE parent said, “there has yet to be an event at NFES where I haven’t seen her volunteering, from the Fall Festival and Science Fair to Field Day and field trips. She is always willing to help out and sets a wonderful example for other school volunteers.” Another parent said, “she really cares about Nuckols Farm and the quality of programs provided for our students.”

During her years on the Farm, Stephanie has served in a variety of roles including hospitality volunteer, room parent, fifth grade luau volunteer, yearbook co-chair, Explore Lab coordinator, Community Service Club co-chair, and frequent cafeteria volunteer. In fact, she has already volunteered 43 times in the cafeteria this year and has signed up for 20 additional shifts before school ends!

She will certainly be missed as her youngest child moves on to middle school next year! Congratulations to this year’s NFE Volunteer of the Year, Stephanie Weber! Thank you for all you do on the Farm!

Thank you, NFES Volunteers!

Thank you to Mrs Metzger, staff, and students for a wonderful Volunteer Recognition Celebration that was held on April 23! We felt so appreciated!

The recycling students also participated in a contest to estimate how much recycling is collected each week, with Karin A. in 4th grade having the winning estimate.

Once again, we will be sponsoring a penny drive competition to benefit Comfort Zone Camp (CZC). CZC is a caring community and safe haven for children that are grieving the loss of a family member. The donations we collect will benefit camps, support groups, and travel scholarships. We will be collecting money from Monday, April 29 to Friday, May 3.

Will the green team or yellow team collect the most money? Our students will find out the winning team at our Fox Fest on May 3rd. We will celebrate kindness in our school and our community at this exciting event.

Don’t forget we have our Faculty Kickball Game and Family Picnic on Tuesday, April 30 from 3:00-5:00 pm. Come out and make a donation to CZC, see your favorite teachers play at 3:00, and enjoy time with others!
