SUBJECT: News from the Farm - May 24, 2019

Notes from Mrs. Metzger

Fox Families –

It is hard to believe that May is coming to an end! As this school year comes to a close, there are many exciting events and activities that will be taking place at The Farm. Please mark your calendar with the following information:

  • Monday, May 27 – Memorial Day, School is closed
  • Tuesday, May 28 – PTA Meeting and DRUM Performance at 7 pm
  • Wednesday, May 29 – Kindergarten Meet and Treat – If you have a rising kindergartener, please plan to join us for this event. We will spend a short time together discussing what your child will experience next year as a kindergartener at Nuckols Farm. You will then have the opportunity to take a self-guided tour of the building with your student, meet the kindergarten teachers, and visit the classrooms. The final stop will be on the playground for a tasty treat! We hope you can join us.
  • Friday, May 31 – Field Day! Please keep in mind that our good neighbors, Virginia Women’s Center, do not have extra parking during business hours for our school patrons. Kindly do not park in their parking lot.

Also, if you plan to submit class placement input on the 2019-20 school year, please remember that is due on Friday, May 31. I hope that you and your family have a safe, fun, and memorable Memorial Day weekend!

PTA NEWS

Hi Fox Families,

As we count down the last days of school, I would like to thank you, on behalf of the PTA, for a fantastic school year. This was a year of transition for our school and I am so proud of how seamless welcoming Mrs. Metzger has been! It has been my absolute pleasure to serve as the PTA President and to see first hand how much kindness has filled the school year. I have been lucky to be a part of such an amazing school community for the past six years.

I hope you will make plans to join us on Tuesday, May 28 at 7:00 pm for the last PTA meeting of the year. The DRUM performance will follow a brief PTA meeting and installation of the 2019/20 executive board members.

In case you haven’t heard the exciting news, Mr. Moodie was recently selected as the Heart of Henrico!  This is a very well deserved honor. Please join me in congratulating him (there will be a video coming soon from HCPS)!

Your new PTA board is absolutely amazing and I am so excited to see what the upcoming school year holds for you all!

In kindness,

Deb Harper
2018/19 PTA President

Field Day volunteers are needed, especially in the afternoon time slot, 11:35-1:35 pm, for the K-2 Buddy Centers! Volunteers are also needed in the afternoon for grades 3-5 Tug of War and Team Activities. Please email Mrs. Sweeney if you are able to volunteer. Recycling Club to hold Preview Day

On Tuesday, June 4, third graders are invited to "try out" our Recycling Club as part of our Third Grade Preview Day. Flyers will be sent home to third grade families next week with more information on how to sign up.

The Recycling Committee would like to recognize our volunteer of the quarter, Mrs. Deb Harper. She has been a consistent recycling volunteer and has played an integral part in requesting a gravel pathway for adult recycling volunteers to easily transport bins, obtaining additional adult recycling volunteers and requesting our school mascot for recycling events. Mrs. Harper will receive a gift card in appreciation for her dedication to recycling!

Missing Something?

Be sure to check the Lost & Found (located in the clinic) before the end of the school year. The collection is growing daily! All remaining items will be donated on June 14.
