SUBJECT: News from the Farm - August 23, 2019

Notes from Mrs. Metzger

Dear Nuckols Farm Families –

I hope that everyone had a picture-perfect summer and is ready to return to what will be a star-studded school year. We are excited to welcome our Foxes back into the building. We have worked hard this summer to prepare for their return and another year of success.

Our theme this year is Lights, Camera, #LifeReady. In the coming year we will spotlight instruction and student achievements, capture and share the moments, and focus on fostering students of quality character. Our goal is to prepare our students to be #LifeReady and support them in their journey to greater independence. This year Nuckols Farm will set the stage for deeper learning by focusing on instruction that supports anytime, anywhere learning, instruction that is authentic and connected, student-owned, and community supported. We invite you to join us as we strive to provide our students the opportunity to be critical thinkers, communicators, collaborators, creators, students of quality character, and global citizens in order to become #LifeReady.

As always, it is our goal to create a safe and positive environment for all students each day. Safety is our number one priority at The Farm. We appreciate all you do to partner with us to ensure the safety of our students and staff.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteers Needed in the Teacher Workroom!

Our teachers work hard every week and to help them out, we need volunteers to make copies for each grade level. Volunteers work independently for 1-2 hours and work can be done at the volunteer’s convenience on that day. A quick orientation will be held in September.
Contact Laurie Nicholson for more information or to sign up. You can also sign up at Open House on August 29.

Volunteer in the Cafeteria!

Cafeteria volunteers are needed each week to hand out supplies and to assist students with opening packages. Sign up to volunteer through Membership Toolkit or contact Scott Minkoff.

We are looking for coaches for this awesome program! FIRST LEGO League, Jr. is a STEM-based program that introduces students to building and engineering concepts through the use of LEGOs and later, robotics. Coaching a Lego League is fun and engaging as it teaches students about science and technology. Please email Jenny Scott, Lego League Coordinator, for more information.
