SUBJECT: News from the Farm - September 20, 2019

Notes from Mrs. Metzger

Fox Families,

It is hard to believe that we have just completed week three. Students have done a great job adjusting back into the school routine. This month we have worked to set expectations and structures so that we can dive into deeper learning as we work to prepare our students to be #LifeReady.

I hope you enjoyed your time visiting with your child’s teacher last night at Back-to-School Night and were able to learn about their day while at The Farm.

Next week on Thursday, September 26 at 5:00 pm we will hold our first annual launch event for Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students). Watch D.O.G.S. is a program that encourages fathers and father-figures to become involved in their child’s education by volunteering in our school. This event will be held on the front porch. We hope that you will stop by and sign-up to volunteer!

Following the Watch D.O.G.S. event, please join us on the big playground, behind our school, for the Family Picnic. The picnic will take place from 5:30 pm – 7 pm. Here, your pre-ordered Marco's Pizza will be available for pickup and Kona Ice will be available for purchase. For questions about the picnic, please contact Erin Glisson at erintglisson@gmail.com.

This is just a reminder that Monday, September 30th is a half day for students. Dismissal will begin at 11:05 am.

Thank you so much for all that you do each day to support your child’s education!

In partnership,

Crystal Metzger

Help Support the Fox Fund!

Have you made your Fox Fund donation yet? Donations directly support the amazing programs on the Farm as well as the purchase of new classroom equipment. For those of you who are new to the school, the Fox Fund allows parents to make an upfront donation to the PTA through our Membership Toolkit website in support of our annual operating budget. All donations are 100% tax deductible!

For the 2019-2020 school year, we have launched a 100% Participation Campaign asking all families to donate no matter how small or large. All donors will receive a 2019-2020 car magnet to show their Fox pride. Don’t forget that you may be able to double or sometimes even triple your impact by simply submitting a Matching Gift Form provided by your company. Information about these matching opportunities is also on our PTA website under the Fox Fund heading.

SCHOOL NEWS

Welcome, Ms. Griffeth!

Dear Nuckols Farm Parents,

I am thrilled and honored to take part in your child’s life as his/her physical education teacher! I am passionate about fitness and am excited to share this love with NFES students. Since I am new to the school family, I wanted to share a little bit about myself, so you are hopefully more comfortable entrusting your child to me.

My husband, 1-year old daughter, and myself moved from Augusta, GA this summer. While in Augusta, I taught at the elementary level for four years. Prior to that, I taught one year at the middle school level. I graduated from The University of Georgia (GO DAWGS!) where I earned a degree in Health and Physical Education and ran for UGA’s cross-country and track teams. Since then, I have also earned my Masters in my field. I enjoy traveling, cooking, backpacking, running, yoga, and spending time with friends and family. I love physical education, getting creative and thinking outside of the box. I will be challenging my students to do this in health and physical activity.

We are going to have an awesome year! I am all about parent/teacher relationships, so please feel free to contact me with any questions you have or better ways I can meet your child’s needs. Also, I will be contacting you throughout the year on ways you can get involved in your child’s wellness life at home and here at NFES.

I look forward to meeting you!

Blessings,
Katherine Griffeth

Watch D.O.G.S. will be hosting a sign-up event for volunteers before the Family Picnic on September 26. You will need to have an active volunteer form on file, so feel free to complete the form at https://nuckolsfarmpta.membershiptoolkit.com/Volunteering. We can’t wait to launch this volunteer initiative where we welcome fathers and father figures to spend time in our building. Contact Mrs. Crockett with questions about this program.
