SUBJECT: News from the Farm - October 4, 2019

Notes from Mrs. Metzger

Happy Fall, Fox Families!

Thank you to everyone who came out last Thursday for the Family Picnic. The Watch D.O.G.S. sign-up event was also a great success. We had many dads/father-figures sign up to support NFES. Our first Watch D.O.G. is volunteering today!

We have two events coming up in the month of October. On Tuesday, October 22, our 3rd graders will be performing at the PTA Meeting that will begin at 7 pm. Then, on Friday, October 25, we will host the annual Fall Festival. Please make plans to attend these two events to support our students and our school.

A few other important dates this month include:

- October 14 - Student Holiday (No School for Students)

- October 15 - Reflections Entries Due

- October 24 - Individual and Class Picture Day

- October 28 - Student Half Day – Dismissal at 11:05 am

Safety is a top priority at NFES and we are continuously reflecting on our practices. The mornings are very busy at The Farm as students arrive by various modes of transportation. To ensure the safety of all students, we ask that you abide by the following safety protocols:

Walkers: All walkers should travel by means of the sidewalks. Walkers should gather at the bike rack and wait for a school staff member before crossing. If you live across Graham Meadows Drive in Greengate, please be sure to escort your child across the street and have them enter the school grounds at the bus crosswalk where they will take the sidewalk to the bus loop doors.

Car Riders: For the safety of our students, we ask that ALL students exit the car from the right side (sidewalk side) of the car. Students should NOT exit the car from the left-hand side requiring them to walk in front of or between cars.

Your support of our students and our safety practices is very important.

Thank you for all that you do each day to support your child and NFES.

In partnership,

Crystal Metzger

Help Support the Fox Fund!

Thank you to all who have donated to the Fox Fund so far this school year! To date, we have received donations from 188 families, totaling $12,439. We're still a long way from our goal for the 2019-2020 school year! We know there are many back-to-school expenses this time of year, but early Fox Fund donations help us add important and enjoyable equipment, supplies, and activities to our children's educational experience. If you have not yet donated, please consider helping us reach our goal of 100% participation- no amount is too small or too large! ï»¿Donations may be made online using your Membership Toolkit account.

Fall Festival 2019 is coming soon!

Our popular Fall Festival is scheduled for October 25, 2019 from 5-7 pm! Don't forget to check for tickets and donation requests coming home with your child on Monday. Please also note on Monday that there are many volunteer opportunities available...we need your help to make this event a success!

We hope your family can join us for a night of games, inflatables, face painting, silent auction, 50/50 raffle, food and more!

We are getting close!

Thanks to all who have joined so far. We’re just under 83% participation. If you have not joined, we need YOU! Please be sure to sign into Membership Toolkit and join TODAY to help us reach our 100% GOAL. The NFE PTA provides so many wonderful opportunities for all of our kids at NFE! Remember, it’s open for mom AND dad, grandparents and all faculty and staff to join to help us reach our goal. Please contact Dana Hennesey, Membership Chair, if you have any questions.

Dear Families,

Our coral reef artwork, created by all NFES Foxes, is on display at the Twin Hickory Library throughout the month of October. Great job!

Your students have also been working hard creating their Square 1 Art designs. We are working with the PTA and Square 1 Art to raise money for our school and for our art program. The students did a beautiful job and coming home soon will be your child’s custom catalog featuring their artwork. You will have an opportunity to purchase keepsakes for the whole family containing their masterpiece. The school earns a profit from every order and as a thank you for participating, all students will receive a set of stickers imprinted with their own artwork (absolutely free), even if you choose not to order anything. Watch for more details about ordering and order deadlines coming soon.

Thanks for supporting your children and their creative talents!
