SUBJECT: News from the Farm - November 15, 2019

Notes from Mrs. Metzger

Fox Families,

November is officially National Family Engagement Month; however, we are always looking to engage our families here at the Farm. Below are just a few of the events and activities that we have held over the past few weeks to engage families and the community.

Fall Festival                            Fall Enrichment Days

Parent Conferences               Barnes and Noble Book Fair

Reflections Ceremony            Veterans Day Assembly

Family Fitness Challenge       Art Shows

We also invite you to join us on Saturday, November 23 at 8:30 am in the bus loop for the Annual Turkey Trot. It’s always a great time! We look forward to seeing you there!

Please mark your calendar with the following dates:

* November 18 – Half Day for Students (Dismissal will begin at 11:05 am)

* November 20 – Report Cards Go Home

* November 22 – SCA Spirit Day - Stuffed Animal Day

* November 27-29 – Thanksgiving Break – Student Holiday

With the upcoming Thanksgiving break, I wanted to share how thankful I am to serve this incredible school and community each day. Over the break our teachers and staff will be enjoying time with their families, and we hope that you will take the opportunity to do the same. Happy Thanksgiving!

Thankfully,

Crystal Metzger

PTA Membership Update

We’re SO CLOSE and we need YOUR HELP! We only need 34 more members to reach our goal of 100% membership — and as an added incentive, for all who join between now and Wednesday, November 27 you will be entered into a drawing for a Starbucks gift card! Please encourage your friends and neighbors to join. It’s quick, easy and only $6 per member. If you have any questions, please contact Dana Hennesey.

The Turkey Trot is almost here!

Our annual PTA Turkey Trot kicks off next Saturday, November 23 at 8:30 am. Mrs. Griffeth has a great course mapped out for our Foxes and their families for this non-competitive fun run where participants run as many laps as they would like. Afterwards, please stick around to enjoy hot beverages and light snacks.

No need to bring money for this free event, but if you would like to bring Lysol wipes, tissues, or board games for Johnson Elementary (our sister school), we will have donation boxes at the event.

We appreciate our generous sponsors for this event: Wegmans, Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, and Einstein Brother’s Bagels.

Questions? Please contact Lindsay Turpin or Kristin Wicichowski for more information.

Order a Yearbook by December 14!

NFES Yearbooks are a great keepsake of your child’s school year so be sure to order your copy before December 14. NO EXTRA COPIES ARE ORDERED AND NO ORDERS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER DECEMBER 14.

Thanks for sharing photos of your favorite foxes! Please continue to submit photos from school events, including the Reflections ceremony and upcoming Turkey Trot, all year. Sharing is easy on our yearbook company's secure web site (enter 10385 for NFE), or share directly from your phone using the free Herff Jones eShare app.

Questions? Contact Janet Bachelder or Kristin Farrar.

Our PTA is excited to offer two sessions for the winter after school enrichment program, beginning the week of January 14. Be on the lookout for the flyer with specific details coming soon!

Thank you from the Fall Festival Co-Chairs!

Thank you to all of the awesome volunteers we had for the Fall Festival! It was a great night and a huge success - we raised over $10,000 for the PTA!  Special shout out to all of the committee chairs - Cathy Nerheim, Christin Carson, Judy Miller, Erin Glisson, Heather Sabharwal, Linda Green, Patty Gill, and Hayley Mathews. We couldn't have done it without all of you.

Ways and Means Update

Barnes and Noble Book Fair

Thank you to all of the families that supported the Book Fair through their attendance last Saturday and through online purchases. The sales amount for the event day was just under $5,500 which is fantastic! The school will receive 15% back from these sales and 5% from online sales.

We hope the students enjoyed getting their homework pass and purchasing a book for their classroom!

Fox Fund

If you haven’t already donated to the Fox Fund, we encourage you to consider adding it to your year-end tax free donation list! We haven’t reached our goal of 100% participation from all families so please help us move closer to achieving that target so we can provide outstanding programs for our students. Donations may be made online using your Membership Toolkit account.
