PTA NEWS

Dear NFE Families and Staff -

I am writing my last message to you as President for the 2019/20 school year and what a roller coaster of a year it's been. We had some fabulous "ups" such as The Fall Festival, Book Fair, Variety Show, and Pizza Delivery Night just to name a few. But I don't think anyone could have predicted the "down" of missing out on the Innovation Fair, Field Day, the 5th Grade Graduation Ceremony or the chance to say goodbye to one another. This has been such a difficult time but seeing our community come together and support each other has been truly uplifting.

I would like to thank the amazing PTA Board for their enthusiasm and hard work and every NFE volunteer for giving up precious time for the benefit of our children. To the staff of NFE, it has been an honor to work with you and support your tireless efforts to make NFE such a special school. I wish you a happy Teacher Appreciation Week next week and know many NFE foxes will be sending virtual hugs your way!

Lastly, I wish our graduating 5th graders all the best as they prepare to enter middle school. We will miss you on the Farm but know that excitement awaits for you as you start this new journey!

Have a safe and happy summer,

Carrie Schaeffer

NFES Volunteer of the Year!

The PTA would like to congratulate Michelle Lipawsky on being our Volunteer of the Year! Michelle pours her heart and soul into all of her volunteer efforts. She works tirelessly as the PTA Treasurer but you can also catch her volunteering in the cafeteria, media center, art room and as a Room Parent. She is always willing to lend a hand to help out. Thank you, Michelle, for the enthusiasm, wisdom, and compassion that you give to Nuckols Farm!

NFES Faculty and Staff Video

Having to cancel the NFES Teacher Parade was not the news anyone wanted to hear, but the virtual message from our NFES faculty and staff was something so special to watch. It was amazing to see those familiar Farm faces...thank you for the smiles!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Library Update

Thank you to our volunteers who volunteered their time in the library this year. We appreciate you!

Also, please keep checked out library books in a safe place so that they may be returned when school reopens.

March Volunteer of the Month

Congratulations to Meghan Ely who was chosen as the March Volunteer of the Month! Meghan went above and beyond in creating a Virtual Mystery Reader program when school originally closed. She administered the program, attended every day and recruited volunteers throughout. In a time of uncertainty and need, the program gave children something to look forward to each day and a way to stay socially connected. And, it gave parents a little breathing room! Thank you, Meghan!

After School Enrichment Chair Needed

We are still in need of a 4th After School Enrichment Chair for the 2020-21 school year. An ASE Chair determines classes to be offered and works with vendor; coordinates dates and offerings with school principal; coordinates registration and payments; assigns parent volunteers; and attends each day of after school enrichment to ensure volunteer support and smooth operation (split between the 4 chairs).

If you are interested or would like more information, please contact the ASE committee

2020-21 Workroom Volunteers Needed

If you are interested and able to volunteer 1-2 hours/week OR 1-2 hours/month making copies for our amazing NFE teachers, please contact Laurie Nicholson for details.

A Note from the Library

Thank you to all of our parent/family volunteers! We appreciate you so very much!

I want to take a minute to specifically speak to any of you who have volunteered in our library at any point over the years you’ve been here at Nuckols Farm. Julia and I are so, so grateful for each and every one of you, whether you volunteered once or many times. If it weren’t for you, we’d have carts of books needing to be shelved. We’d have to cut out and prep many items at home each night. We would have stacks of books needing to be covered. I’d have to stay longer at school making copies. We’d be in desperate need of MakerSpace supplies, tissues, and cleaning supplies.

We appreciate each and every little thing that you do, and because of your help and support, I am a more effective librarian for all of our students. Thank you so much for your time, your commitment, and the lasting, indelible, and positive impact you have on our school.

Sincerely,

Ms. Young (librarian) and Mrs. Lawrence (library assistant)
