PTA NEWS

Hello Fox Families!

Where did the year go? Although we have had many memorable moments on the Farm during this unprecedented year, many of us are so glad that summer is almost here.

In May, I officially became PTA President for the 2021-22 school year. Your new PTA Board is already looking ahead to plan a fun and exciting 2021/22 year. I look forward to serving over this next year along with the new Executive Board members Carrie Settar (VP Volunteers), Amy Lawson and Resa Hoye (VPs Ways and Means), Ann Brock (Secretary) and Michelle Lipawsky (Treasurer).

If you have thoughts, ideas, or questions about our PTA calendar for 2021/22 please reach out and share them with me over the summer. I would like to have as many NFE families involved in the PTA next year as possible and hope that you will consider sharing your time and gifts with us in any way that you can. At this point, we aren’t 100% sure how things will look in the fall, but we hope to get back to many of our fun Farm activities. More to come on this as we get closer to the start of the new school year. In the meantime, I wish each of you a wonderful summer filled with family, friends, and relaxation!

Finally, a huge thank you to the outgoing PTA Board. We are so grateful for your time and talents! Those of you who are moving on to middle school pastures will be dearly missed.

Warmest Regards,

Kim Apollony

2021/22 PTA President

SCHOOL NEWS

Thank You Mrs. Hudson!

After 39 years of teaching (24 of them spent on the Farm!), Mrs. Hudson will be retiring at the end of the school year. Without question, her dedication, kindness, positive energy, patience, and encouragement has touched countless Fox families and many others in our school community.

Mrs. Hudson has many memories of her time at Nuckols Farm, but some of her favorites include the Kindergarten special days: Pirate Day, Young Authors' Brunch, Alligator Pie Day, and the Thanksgiving Feast. When asked what she will miss most, she mentioned the children and families she has gotten to know over the years. "I will miss seeing my current class grow as first graders next year. I will miss watching the fifth grade announcements and thinking, 'I taught him/her.' I will miss having former students come back to help in my classroom. Twenty-four years at Nuckols Farm has left me with a heart full of memories!"

After retiring, Mrs. Hudson plans to substitute teach, tutor, read tons of books, crochet, and quilt. She even plans to keep the child of her son's best friend (who she has known all his life)!

Mrs. Hudson, thank you for your many amazing years at Nuckols Farm. Congratulations on your retirement and best wishes as you begin a new adventure. We will miss you!

BOXTOP UPDATES!

- For any virtual students, we have placed a collection box outside of the front door of NFE. It is a plastic gray box clearly labeled as belonging to Boxtops.

- For any in-person student, clipped box tops can be turned to your teacher in a plastic Ziplock bag or we have included a blank collection sheet that can be printed off or feel free to tape clipped box tops to any sheet of paper.

- If you haven't done so already, please download and try the BTE App and encourage family and friends to as well. It's free and easy to use. Please select Nuckols Farm Elementary so that our school can receive credit on scanned submissions. This can be done all year long...even during the SUMMER!

The more families participate, the closer we come to meeting our goal in spite of the pandemic. Thank you for your efforts in supporting our school by participating in the Box Tops for Education Program. Together, we all can make a difference in the community and for our school!
