Join the 2022-23 PTA Board!

The PTA Nominating Committee is seeking volunteers to serve on the Nuckols Farm PTA Board for the 2022-23 school year. The Board is comprised of both elected officers and committee chairs, which are two-year commitments. The PTA President role is only a one-year term.

We are looking to fill the following elected board positions:

President– Serves 1 year as PTA President and head of the Executive PTA Board.

Secretary – Keeps accurate minutes of the monthly PTA Board and Committee meetings.

Treasurer – Responsible for maintaining all budget and financial records for the PTA; presents budget updates at each monthly meeting; keeps accurate and detailed account of all monies received and paid.

We are looking to fill the following committee chair positions:

After School Enrichment (4 positions) – Works to secure vendors and organizes after school enrichment classes for fall and spring.

Art Room Coordinator (1) – Coordinates all art room volunteers and maintains the schedule.  

Business Rewards (1) - Responsible for business rewards enrollments, reward redemption, and promotion to the school community. This person is also responsible for collecting and submitting box tops throughout the year (mostly done electronically by parents) and promotion to the school community.

Cafeteria Coordinator (1) – Coordinates all cafeteria volunteers and maintains the schedule. 

County Council (1) - Attends all Henrico Co. Council of PTAs meetings and provides report to PTA Board.

Explorer Lab (1-2) – Works with teachers and grade level coordinators to run Explorer Lab Program.

Fall Festival/Spring Fling (1) – Leads, coordinates, and oversees the annual Fall Festival and/or Spring Fling, typically held in late October and/or early spring.

Fifth Grade Coordinator (2) – Organizes the Fifth Grade Luau, typically held in June.

Fifth Grade Yearbook (1) – Helps gather fifth grade baby pictures for the yearbook.

Gardens & Grounds (2) – Works to maintain flower beds and other projects on school grounds.

Innovation (Science) Fair (2) – Organizes this annual science event for the students.

Lego League Coordinator (1 or 2) – Recruits and trains coaches for K-3 Junior First Lego League and 4-5 First Lego League (Robotics) teams. Assists in formation of teams.

Library (1) - Create, distribute and manage schedule for library volunteers.

Marquee (1) – Coordinates with principal on wording and updates marquee with school messages each month.

Membership (1) – Oversees the annual PTA membership drive.

Membership Toolkit (1) – Works with existing Coordinator to manage Membership Toolkit program. Assists and trains volunteers, teachers, and parents as needed.

Newsletter/Webmaster/Communications (1) - Publishes and emails a bi-weekly e-newsletter; maintains the NFE PTA website; helps manage PTA Facebook page

Recycling (2) – Works with existing Coordinator to oversee the weekly Recycling Club.

Room Parents (1) – coordinates room parents for each classroom including organizing training they need 

School Supply Boxes (1) – Works with vendor and school to organize ordering and distribution of school supply kits.

Spirit Night Coordinator (1) – Contacts local businesses to coordinate spirit events to benefit PTA.

Spiritwear (2) - Manages spirit wear and Field Day T shirt sales, ordering, and distribution

Turkey Trot (2) – Works to plan annual Turkey Trot, typically in November.

Workroom (1) - Recruits, trains, and schedules volunteers to provide copying, laminating and other clerical assistance for teachers and staff in Workroom. Coordinates Workroom needs with grade-level teacher contacts.

February Hospitality

Sign up to help with the February Hospitality Event on Thursday, February 10th, 2022 for our wonderful teachers and faculty members! This month's theme is "Soup & Salad". The PTA has arranged for hot soup to be delivered and kept warm, and parents are being asked to provide the salads, dressings, and desserts. Sign up in Membership Toolkit!

Volunteers of the Month

Despite continuing volunteer restrictions, our January Co-Volunteers of the Month have gone above and beyond. Shannon Boyd was instrumental in organizing a successful outdoor Winter Enrichment for Kindergarten students. She created activity stations, gathered volunteers, and worked hard to make it so much fun! Meghan Ely initiated and organized a N95 mask drive for NFES faculty and staff. The response was so successful, additional masks were able to be delivered to our sister school, Johnson Elementary. Thank you, Shannon and Meghan, for your time and dedication to our school!

NFE Spring Fling Coming May 6!

Save the date for the all new NFE Spring Fling on May 6, 2022 at 5pm! More details to come!  

We are looking for volunteers to serve as committee chairs for this event. Go to this sign-up if you are interested in helping out!

Order online by Monday, February 21 and pick up at the Nuckols Farm Bus Loop between 4:30 and 6:30 pm on Wednesday, February 23.

MakerSpace Donations Needed

Ms.Young is collecting supplies for the library MakerSpace, where 3-5 graders use their imaginations to create.  Donations can be sent in to school with your students.  

Supplies needed: googly eyes, fabric pieces, season items, pipe cleaners, muffin tin liners, paper towel/toilet paper rolls, pom poms, popsicle sticks, stickers, buttons, ribbon, tissue paper, colored/patterned tape, and peel-and-stick gems.

Box Top Rewards

Download and try the BTE App and encourage family and friends to as well. It's free and easy to use. Please select Nuckols Farm Elementary so that our school can receive credit on scanned submissions. This can be done all year long! 

For those of you have unexpired PAPER Box Tops, you may drop them off in the Box Tops box under the covered porch in front of the school starting Monday, January 10th.

The more families participate, the closer we come to meeting our goal. Thank you for your efforts in supporting our school by participating in the Box Tops for Education Program. Together, we all can make a difference in the community and for our school!
