NFE’s Recycling Club is open to all 4th and 5th-grade students. Student volunteers are divided into two groups (by last name, A-K and L-Z) and collect recycling on alternate weeks. On Tuesday mornings, participating students arrive at school by their usual transportation and collect classroom recycling before the school day begins. In addition to student volunteers, 2-3 parent volunteers are needed each Tuesday to assist in the dining den from 7:15-8:00 a.m.
Parent volunteering is NOT restricted to parents of 4th and 5th graders. Parent volunteers supervise the students and empty the cart of collected recycling into the dumpster outside of the school. Students are not permitted to go outside, so it is important to have parent volunteers each week!
Interested parents and/or students should contact Henny Ponce with questions or to be added to the recycling email communications list. Once we are able to have parent volunteers in school, we'll get back with you.
