Yearbook sales end this Friday, Dec. 15. Students look forward to signing yearbooks each spring. No extra copies will be ordered so place your order today!


 

The last day to register for After School Enrichment is this Sunday, Dec. 17. Classes start the week of Jan. 2. We still have space in our acting, cooking, art, music, chess, computers (Tuesday only) and basketball classes. Sign up today!

Don't forget to share photos from classroom and school activities including winter enrichment, class performances and field trips for possible inclusion in the yearbook. Fifth grade families, watch for information in January about submitting your favorite baby photo to be included with your Fox's current photo in the yearbook.

Spirit Night at Boomerang Air Sports is Thursday, January 18 from 4-5:15 pm (K-2nd) and 5:15-6:30 pm (3rd-5th). Families with students in multiple grades can select the time that works best for them. Watch for details after winter break!

Calling All Scientists!

Be sure to check your child's backpack for information about this year's Science Fair to be held Feb. 21 and 22. Participation forms will come home after winter break and must be returned by Friday, Jan. 12.

Get Involved in 2018

NFE's PTA Nominating Committee will begin meeting in January to develop a slate of officers and committee chairs for the 2018-19 school year. Watch for details about open positions after winter break, or contact a member of the Nominating Committee for more info. Members are Christin Carson, Kristy Elliott, Suzanne Heller, Vanessa Lande and Michelle Lipawsky.

 

Registration Open for Virginia PTA Advocacy Conference

The 2018 Virginia PTA Annual Meeting and Advocacy Conference will be held Jan. 27-28 at the Virginia Crossings Hotel and Conference Center. Register today to learn how you can advocate for Virginia’s students during PTA Day at the General Assembly, hear from National PTA President, Jim Accomando, and more!

Meet our Volunteer of the Month

Congratulations to our November Volunteer of the Month, Jenny Scott. Jenny coordinates the First Lego League and FLL Junior Teams for NFE and also served as a coach with her husband for a FLL team this fall. Thanks, Jenny, for doing a PAWSitively amazing job! If you know a volunteer who deserves to be recognized for a job well done, nominate him or her for Volunteer of the Month.

The Hospitality Committee is kicking off 2018 with a luncheon for teachers and staff on Wednesday, Jan. 10. Watch for sign ups after winter break.

Sign Up for Elks Free Throw Contest

NFE will participate in the Elks Nations “Hoop Shoot” Free Throw Contest again this year. This basketball free throw competition will be held from 2:15-3:30 pm on Friday, Jan. 5 at NFE. The competition is open to students who will be at least 8 years old by April 1, 2018. Contact Ms. Sweeney for information.

Thanks & Updates from Mrs. Crockett

Thank you for helping us sponsor over 40 children in Henrico County this holiday through our Giving Tree. Our community is so generous, and the recipients of the Giving Tree appreciate your thoughtfulness. 

We will celebrate Kindness Week the week of Jan. 22 with the theme, “Have you Filled a Bucket Today?” Please look for more information as we begin the new year.

Fifth graders will begin their middle school course selection process in January. Fifth grade parents will need to be signed up for the Parent Portal in PowerSchool for course selection. Contact Elyse Crockett, School Counselor, for assistance. Enjoy your time with your family this winter break. See you in 2018!
