Library Assistance

WELCOME to the 2024-2025 School Year and THANK YOU for visiting the Library Volunteer page!  Please consider sharing your time and energy in the library this year.  It's an excellent opportunity to spend time with your child and his/her classmates as well as lend a helping hand to Ms. Young and Mrs. Fletcher.

During this time, you may be asked to assist the students with their library activity, at MakerSpace or selecting books for checkout.  You may also find yourself shelving books or assisting with other administrative duties, such as laminating, copying materials and assisting with projects.

There are three shifts available to volunteer each day:

  • Anytime between 7:55 - 10:20 a.m.
  • Anytime between 11:00 - 11:40 a.m.
  • Anytime between 12:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

When considering the time you would like to volunteer, you can refer to the LIBRARY SCHEDULE for your child's library class time.  It is important to note, you are NOT required to volunteer the entire shift.  You can signup for as little or much time that you'd like...a half hour, hour, or the entire shift.  Whatever works best for you!  When signing up, though, please indicate what time you will arrive and depart so that Ms. Young can plan accordingly.

Starting in January 2025, there are two additional daily opportunities available to lead the Journal Station for the First Grade (time TBD) and Kindergarten (time TBD) classes.  During this time, you will read a book to a small group of students and then guide them through a journal writing activity.  If interested, you can volunteer for both shifts, or just one.

CLICK HERE to sign up for a volunteer slot. Please note:

  • There is only one volunteer for each time slot.
  • GREEN represents an OPEN shift.
  • ORANGE denotes a FULL shift.
  • You will need to complete the online VOLUNTEER APPLICATION before volunteering.  Please be certain to allow enough time for the form to be processed before your volunteer shift.  You will receive a confirmation email once it is completed.  If you have any questions regarding the status, contact Kim Orr for assistance.
  • If your plans change, please remove yourself from the calendar so that another person can replace you.  Thank you!

In addition to volunteering your timeanother way to assist the Library is by donating disinfectant wipes, boxes of tissues, and the following MakerSpace supplies:

  • Adhesive Jewels
  • Paper Plates
  • Scotch Tape, in Dispenser
  • Toilet Paper Rolls
  • Beads
  • Pipe Cleaners
